David Gianos, MA
Treats ages: 8-65+
David is a recent graduate of Aurora University’s Master of Social Work program and is currently providing therapy at Mind Lodge while awaiting his Licensed Social Worker (LSW) credential. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Creighton University and his master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Nebraska Omaha before completing his Master of Social Work at Aurora University.
David has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, life transitions, emotional regulation, and relationship challenges.
David believes therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. He strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, without judgment or pressure. He takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach, helping clients better understand themselves, develop practical coping skills, and build confidence as they work toward meaningful change. He believes that strong relationships, meaningful experiences, and finding balance outside of daily responsibilities all play an important role in overall well-being.
A particular area of interest for David is the importance of connection. His academic research explored the effects of social isolation across the lifespan and the ways relationships, community, and purpose contribute to emotional well-being. Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply looking to better understand themselves, David believes therapy can be a place to reconnect with their strengths and move toward the life they want to build.
Outside of work, David can usually be found looking for his golf ball somewhere in the trees, spending time outdoors on walks with his dog, officiating basketball, or cheering on the Chicago Bears. He enjoys finding humor in everyday life and believes therapy doesn't always have to be serious. Some of the best moments in the therapy room happen when clients and therapists can laugh while working together.
